A memory card is simply another regular storage device which makes use of flash memory. However, make what makes them stand out from the other flash storage devices is mainly their size. Recently there have been a lot of pen drives which do make use of a smaller form factor. So why choose a memory card? Well sadly, not all devices support pen drives. Phones, tablets, and digital cameras require a certain type of memory support in order to expand storage. This is where a memory card comes to use. There are a tons of memory cards being sold in the market, so do you know which one to buy? Consumers often get confused with so many variables to consider such as the kind of flash memory used and the Class of the memory card. Our product for review is the Transcend High Endurance 32GB MicroSDHC memory card.
The Transcend MicroSDHC 32GB card is available for anything between Rs 700-1,000 depending upon the ecommerce website it is purchased from. This product also comes with a 2 year warranty.
This memory card can be used as a micro SD card as well as in SDHC devices. An adapter or what can also be called as a converter has been included to ensure that the microSDHC card fits into your camera and other supported devices. It clearly states that this will only support SDHC devices, so before purchasing it be sure to check if your digital camera supports it. This can be simply and quickly checked from the user manual. Before we dive into explaining the features of this product, let’s get a proper view of what it looks like.
The Transcend memory card is packed well and along with the microSD card is the MicroSD adapter. This saves you the trouble of having to purchase one separately. The packaging itself states all the highlight features which is good as it makes things a lot easier when looking around a store with the intention of purchasing a specific kind of product.
The memory card has quite a different look to it, given its silverish colour. However, this was a welcome change from the common black colour which almost all MicroSDHC cards are. The card was smooth and there were no rough edges, indicating the superior physical quality of the memory card.
When placing it into the MicroSD card adapter, we faced no difficulties. We placed it in effortlessly. The only trouble which we faced at times with the adapter was a slightly loose lock switch. When inserting the adapter into a camera or another device like the Kingston MobileLite Wireless, the lock would be enabled which restricted data from being copied to the memory card. Here are a couple of pictures to give you a good idea of what you get when purchasing this Transcend memory card.

The best way to test a memory card would be to actually make use of it. Synthetic benchmarks and analysis can only go so far. What really counts is real-time experience with the Transcend MicroSDHC card.
We first tried in a smartphone to see if applications installed on the Transcend MicroSDHC card loaded any faster than it did when compared to other Class 10 memory cards. However, since all were Class 10 memory cards, the Transcend MicroSDHC performed similarly. We did notice a slight difference in transfer speeds when transferring a file from the computer to the phone. The Transcend memory card was not only able to hit its rated maximum speed but also sustained this speed throughout the transfer.
Before inserting it into a camera, we decided to use it in the Kingston MobileLite Wireless for a while. Functionality with the memory card was good and it managed to take everything that we threw at it. We used it as a storage device to transfer media over our home network and video streaming worked exceptionally well owing to the fast transfer speeds.
Using it in a digital camera was the ultimate test as some images taken with a digital camera exceed the normal image size of those pictures taken with a smartphone. The Transcend MicroSDHC card never let us down and performed very well. In fact, when we connected the camera to the computer, the images were almost instantly accessible without much loading and processing time.
While the Transcend MicroSDHC 32GB memory card isn’t going to break any records, it seems to be a pretty affordable product given the fact that a MicroSD adapter is also included. Overall, the memory card worked well and apart from the loose lock switch on the MicroSD card adapter we saw no major flaws. For roughly around 1,000 INR it is a pretty decent purchase.
